Landscape and Horticulture Technicians and Specialists Specific Skills. Build models, Manage landscaping projects, Prepare conceptual designs, Prepare presentation graphics and drawings, Survey and assess designated sites, Assess the health of lawns. Direct crews who maintain the health and appearance of golf courses and their surrounding landscapes, Plan and co-ordinate the growth and use of plants for landscaping, ornamental uses and other purposes, Plan and construct landscaped environments which may include trees, shrubberies, lawns, fences, decks, patios and other landscape structures, Examine trees and shrubs to diagnose problems and disease, Plant and move trees. Maintaining gardens and one-off garden tidies – Border and flower bed management – Leaf/rubbish clearing – Turfing – Planting – Mowing (with both informal and formal finishes) – Trimming hedges (with both informal and formal finishes) – Working on landscaping projects – Assisting with groundwork in relation to tree operations (suitable candidates may in time receive appropriate arboricultural training) – Hard and soft landscaping – Fencing, Decking, Slab laying, Woodworking, Walling – Operating a chipper, mower, strimmer, stump grinder, pressure washer, digger, dumper, and other machinery – Maintaining tools and machinery – Ensuring that all work is carried out in a safe and conscientious manner. On the road job Work locations may vary. Frequent or constant travel is required from the employee.
