Mediterranean restaurant seeking expert chef to strengthen the kitchen team and cover staff shortages for its branch located in Vancouver. JOB SUMMARY: The cooks will inspire, develop, oversee, and manage the restaurant program. The ideal candidate will require a knowledge of traditional Mediterranean dishes, fine meals and ethnical items as well as other kitchen skills. He/she should be passionate about the artistry of classical food techniques and procedures and be able to pass these skills on to others. Essential duties and responsibilities: • Assist with overseeing the day-to-day operation of the kitchen • Serves as an educator as well as an inspirational, committed, and responsible leader to kitchen team • Maintain exceptional kitchen cleanliness and equipment operation to optimal specifications • Design creative and innovative menu and dishes for both the Mediterranean and international customer base • Lead by example, inspiring staff to deliver memorable food and desserts with pride • Maximize resources and inventories by managing cost and monitoring inventory and budgets to ensure the best use of inventory and allocation of expenses • initiate and execute specialty projects as required • Other duties may be added from time to time Required experience and qualifications: • Minimum 3 years’ experience leading a kitchen driven operation • Experience working in and managing a restaurant and kitchen with a capacity exceeding 100 types of products both classical and traditional ones • Knowledge and ability to control classical and traditional kitchen techniques • Ability to lead, train, and motivate junior members of staff • Strong verbal and written English communication skills • Superior conflict resolution skills, with the ability to relate professionally to all levels of staff, management, clientele, suppliers, and partners • Excellent planning and organizational skills, including the ability to handle conflicting deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks • A strong work ethic and commitment to a premium level of quality • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holiday
