Wage: $20.34 per hour (Overtime paid at 1.5x after 44 hours)
Vacation: 4% vacation pay or 2 weeks paid vacation per ESA
Job Description:
The elderly client requires ongoing assistance due to limited mobility and absence of full-time family support. We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and flexible Home Support Worker to provide dedicated care to an elderly individual living independently in their private home. The ideal candidate will offer personal care, companionship, and assistance with day-to-day household tasks to help maintain the client’s health, safety, and dignity.
Responsibilities:
- Provide companionship and personal care in a respectful and professional manner
- Assist with bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, and blow-drying hair
- Administer medication reminders and apply ointments to arthritis-affected areas
- Support with mobility and ambulation, as needed
- Plan, prepare, and cook nutritious meals and light snacks based on the client’s dietary requirements
- Perform routine housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, ironing, dishwashing, and bed-making
- Keep the home safe, clean, and organized at all times
- Monitor and report any health-related concerns to family members
- Occasional support during evenings or weekends, as needed
Qualifications:
- Completion of at least secondary school preferred
- Experience as a caregiver or relevant caregiving training preferred
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to complete upon hiring) required
- Police background check required prior to employment, due to the vulnerable nature of the client, required
- Ability to speak and understand English clearly
- Demonstrated compassion, patience, and respect for the elderly
Working Conditions:
- Care provided in a private residence
- Optional accommodation available at no cost (voluntary and not a condition of employment)
- Light snacks and meals included during shifts or stay
- The employer will cover the full cost of round-trip transportation from the employee’s country of residence to Canada at the start of employment and back to the country of origin upon completion of the employment contract, as required under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP).
- Time-and-a-half wage paid for overtime beyond 44 hours/week
- All entitlements and protections under the Employment Standards Act (ESA) will be respected (e.g., public holidays, unpaid sick days, rest periods)
