Summary Job Description
The Accounting Technician is responsible for focusing and managing the costs and budgeting of our construction projects. This includes keeping record of accounts, recording all financial transactions, post journal entries, reconciliation of accounts, preparation of budgets and financial statements. Providing supplemental documents as required. Ensuring billing and payments are made within deadlines.
Manadatory requirements
BA degree
5+ years experience in the administration and accounting within the construction industry.
Preferred requirements
Minimum of 1 year Canadian experience in the administration and accounting within the construction industry.
Responsibilities include
Responsible for managing full-cycle Accounts Payable and overseeing the work of the A/P Specialist;
Reviewing payables for accuracy;
Preparing cheque run for A/P specialist to complete;
Follow up on any outstanding/over-due invoices to ensure they are addressed;
Provide, maintain, and record any issues/concerns about payables;
Responsible for managing full-cycle Accounts Receivable:
Generating and allocating accurate and timely billings, working with PM team to ensure all deadlines are met;
Working closely with clients to ensure demands are met;
Providing supplemental documentation as needed;
Posting cash receipts;
Ensure timely collection of A/R by working closely with clients and PM team;
Complete frequent and thorough reconciliations of the projects;
Focus on managing the costing and budgeting of the project;
Ensuring variances are accounted for;
Ensuring change orders are billed correctly and in full, in a timely manner;
Preparing monthly project summary of the cost and revenue details with analysis;
Schedule and run monthly meetings with respective PM team to troubleshoot any issues and ensure targets are being met.
