Financial Accountant (NOC 11100)
This Hotel Accountant role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records using Xero Accounting Software, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with Canadian accounting standards. The role supports hotel operations through effective financial controls, reporting, and analysis.

On site: Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely. This is an Office-based position within the hotel.
· Salary: $39.50 hourly / 30 to 40 hours per week
· Terms of employment: Permanent employment, Full time

Languages: English
Education: Completion of an accounting/finance or a related Diploma.
Experience in hotel or hospitality accounting is an asset.
Familiarity with Canadian GST/HST and CRA reporting requirements.
Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years
Responsibilities and Tasks
· Maintain complete and accurate financial records using Xero Accounting Software including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
· Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
· Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and hotel revenue reports.
· Monitor and analyze daily hotel revenues, room sales, and operating expenses.
· Prepare and file GST/HST and corporate tax-related reports (excluding payroll remittances).
· Assist in budgeting, forecasting and cash flow analysis.
· Ensure accuracy of financial transactions, and compliance to accounting standards, procedures and internal control.
· Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and government agencies as required.
· Provide financial reports and recommendations to hotel management.
· Assist in the timely and accurate recording of all transactions.
· Ensure confidentiality and security of financial information.
· Process, record and analyze financial transactions.
· Identify company’s financial goals and objectives and ensure that financial plans align with organizational goals.
· Identify and resolve financial discrepancies.
· Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements.
· Work with IT in planning and setting up accounting systems and administer them, when necessary.
· Supervise and train junior staff and/or Arrange training for staff.
· Provide support and backup for other Finance Team positions.
· Prepare financial information for individuals, departments or companies.
· Assist in developing financial plans.
· Prepare financial statements and reports and assist in auditing findings.
· Maintain cost findings, reporting and internal control procedure.
· Assist Controller in preparing income tax returns from accounting records.
· Co-ordinate with other departments to ensure records are accurate and complete.
· Participate in staff meetings.
· Answer enquiries and resolve problems or discrepancies concerning customers' accounts.
· Any other duties as per business requirements.
Experience and specialization/Computer and technology knowledge: Strong working knowledge of Xero Accounting Software. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel.
