Key Duties and Responsibilities:
l Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
l Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
l Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
l Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
l Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware
l Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
l Supervise apprentices and other construction workers
l May prepare cost estimates for clients.
Academic, Training and Experience Qualifications
l Secondary school graduation certificate required
l Several years of previous experience is required
Work conditions and physical capabilities
l Bending, Couching, kneeling, combination of sitting, standing, walking, Large workloads, Handling heavy loads, Physically demanding, Tight deadlines
Wage
l Salary: $36~$38 per hour for 30 hours a week at 52 weeks a year
