Drops of Jupiter is a retail and wholesale company specializing in high-quality crystals, minerals, fossils, and home décor. We are seeking an experienced E-Commerce Web Developer to join our on-site team in Winnipeg and support the continued growth of our digital platforms.
This role is ideal for someone who can combine strong technical ability with design awareness, problem-solving skills, and a solid understanding of e-commerce systems. The successful candidate will help build, maintain, and improve our online platforms for both our business and our vendors, while contributing to a user-friendly and visually engaging shopping experience.
Job Summary
The E-Commerce Web Developer will be responsible for building, maintaining, and improving our e-commerce platform and related web applications. This includes writing and modifying code, integrating new features, improving site performance, supporting website architecture, and helping shape the overall layout, flow, and functionality of the website.
The role also involves evaluating interactive media tools, organizing content for digital use, and assisting with technical problem solving and platform improvements. Familiarity with the gemstone, crystal, mineral, or related product industry is considered an asset. The successful candidate must also be willing and able to attend trade shows, showrooms, factories, and product design events as needed.
Key Responsibilities
● Design, build, modify, integrate, and test code for e-commerce and internet-based
applications
● Develop and maintain Shopify-based functionality, custom theme features, and front-end
enhancements
● Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code for website and application improvements
● Support website architecture, performance, and scalability planning
● Optimize website performance, usability, and responsiveness across devices
● Prepare wireframes, mock-ups, layouts, storyboards, and interface concepts
● Source, select, organize, and structure information for website content and user flow
● Assist in developing logical and physical specifications for new digital features
● Troubleshoot technical issues and provide practical solutions
● Research and evaluate interactive media software, tools, and applications
● Maintain documentation for systems, updates, and internal processes
● Collaborate with internal stakeholders to collect requirements and translate them into
functional builds
● Support existing applications and recommend improvements where needed
● Attend trade shows, showrooms, factories, and product design events when required
Required Technical Skills
Applicants must demonstrate strong working knowledge in the following areas:
● HTML5
● CSS3
● JavaScript
● TypeScript
● React.js
● Shopify development, including theme customization and app integration
● Git and version control workflows
● Responsive web design and cross-browser compatibility
● UI/UX principles, wireframing, and digital content layout
● Website performance optimization
● Basic understanding of database-driven or dynamic web applications
● Testing, debugging, and software maintenance practices
Preferred Technical Qualifications
The following would be considered strong assets:
● Experience working within a live e-commerce environment
● Experience customizing Shopify themes using Liquid
● Familiarity with APIs and third-party integrations
● Experience with multimedia, animation, or interactive web elements
● Understanding of SEO best practices for e-commerce websites
● Experience improving site speed, usability, and conversion-focused design
● Experience automating and integrating various platforms
