Hair Stylist / Barber – Job Description

Job Requirements

• Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

• Experience: 1 to 2 years in similar

• Work setting: Barbershop or hairstyling salon/studio

• Work location: On-site only (no remote work)

Main Responsibilities

• Cut, trim, taper, curl, wave, perm, and style hair

• Apply hair extensions

• Suggest hairstyles based on clients’ physical features and preferences

• Provide hair colouring services (bleaching, dyes, tints, streaking, highlights)

• Shampoo, condition, and treat hair and scalp

• Shave and trim beards and mustaches

• Provide scalp conditioning massages and other treatments

• Supervise apprentices or students in training

• Maintain cleanliness and order in the work area

• Maintain and order supplies as needed

• Blow drying

• Hair braiding

• Iron waving / curling

• Permanent waving (perms)

• Twisting

• Locking

• Spiking

• Roller setting

Hair Colouring Techniques

• Bleaching

• Dyeing / tinting

• Streaking / highlights
