Responsibilities
Tasks undertaken daily include:
Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements
Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
Supervise other workers
Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
Position and secure steel bars or metal mesh in concrete forms to reinforce concrete structures
Supervision
May be required to supervise up to 3-4 people on-site.
Experience and specialization
Must be capable and have demonstrated experience using hand and power tools typically used on a construction site.
Must be capable and have demonstrate experience using other associated carpentry and woodworking machinery typically found on a construction site.
Experience with insulated concrete forms an asset.
Work Setting & Environment
Candidate will be expected to work on construction sites as assigned daily. Sites may include commercial and residential sites - both new construction and repair/renovation sites.
Candidate must be willing to relocate - relocation costs not covered by employer.
Candidate must be comfortable working at heights, in noisy/dusty environments, and outdoors in all types of weather.
Candidate must have access to own transportation.
