(Sous Chef)
We are looking for well-experienced Sous Chefs for La Bottega Nicastro, located at 64 George St, Ottawa, ON K1N 5V9, Canada.

JOB DUTIES:
Assist the Head Chef in planning, organizing and overseeing daily kitchen operations for the restaurant, café, takeout and catering services.
Supervise cooks and kitchen staff, assign duties, monitor workflow and ensure food is prepared efficiently during busy service periods.
Oversee the preparation and cooking of Italian dishes including pasta, pizza, hot sandwiches, salads, antipasti, sauces and other prepared foods.
Ensure consistency in food quality, taste, portioning, presentation and preparation standards across dine-in, takeout and catering orders.
Coordinate food preparation for daily specials, catering orders, private events and other customer requirements.
Monitor food inventory, ingredient usage and kitchen supplies and communicate purchasing and replenishment needs.
Train and guide kitchen staff on recipes, preparation methods, cooking techniques, equipment use, food handling and sanitation procedures.
Inspect ingredients, food preparation areas, storage areas and finished dishes to maintain freshness, quality and food-safety standards.
Assist with menu planning, daily specials and production requirements based on customer demand, seasonal offerings and ingredient availability.
Monitor portion control, food waste and production levels to support effective kitchen cost management.
Ensure kitchen equipment and work areas are properly maintained, cleaned and operated safely.
Step in to manage kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef and address operational or food-quality issues as required.
Prerequisites:
Education: Secondary School or equivalent experience
Experience & Skills: 2 years to less than 3 years of relevant culinary or kitchen supervisory experience
Language: English
Hourly Wage: $36 to $38 per hour for 30 to 40 hours per week
Starting Date: As soon as possible
Terms of Employment: Full-time and permanent
Benefits: 4% Vacation Pay
