Position Title: CUSTOMS BROKER
Number of Vacancies: 01
We are looking for 01 Customs Broker (NOC 13200) to work with our Canadian Customs Operations Team at our Thornhill Ontario – Head Office to process the clearance of truck, courier and rail shipments, crossing at various ports across Canada.
Job Duties:
-Verify shipment documentation for release conditions and rating compliance
-Process clearances using Single Window Initiative and IID
-Process vehicle imports regulated by TRCAN (Transport Canada)
-Process voluntary entries (V and H-type)
-Process shortage/value included entries
-Handle the release of urgent courier shipments that requirement a timely release
-Analyze shipment documentation to determine the correct importer of record, along with the applicable tariff, duty and tax rates
-Communicate with carriers and Canada Border Services Agency to see that shipments are set-up for customs clearance
-Interact with internal and external parties, including clients, freight forwarders and carriers
-Keep clients updated on the status of their shipments.
-Responsible for determining HS tariff classification for products/parts, including entering data into operating system.
-Complete Final Accounting (CADEX) for all transactions
-Prioritize and complete work according to client demands, customs requirements and Customs Operations Team operating procedures
-Laisse with Customs Consulting Team to assist with determining HS classifications and ensure that accurate product information is added to client database.
-Ensure relevant service fees are invoiced, according to the client brokerage agreement
Requirements
-Have a clear understanding of the Integrated Import Declaration (IID) in order to submit all import information and documents required to meet federal government import regulations, and get an admissibility decision electronically.
-Well-versed in using Single Window Initiative when declaring goods to the CBSA.
-Experience with submitting LPCO’s (Licenses, Permits, Certificates and Other) to CBSA and any Participating Government Agencies for regulated shipments.
-Clear understanding of Document Image Functionality (DIF) for the Licenses, Permits, Certificates and Other (LPCO).
-Able to deify and correct CBSA reject messages associated with DIFs and LPCOs.
-Understand the reporting requirements for the 9 Participating Government Agencies (PGAs) Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA); Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC); Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC); Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO); Global Affairs Canada (GAC); Health Canada (HC); Natural Resources Canada (NRCan); Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC); Transport Canada (TC)

-Ability to handle large volumes and meet tight deadlines
-Attention to detail; organization, completeness and accuracy
-Good analytical skills with problem-solving ability
-Ability to make decisions and recommendations within authorized limitations
-Excellent time management skills
-Knowledge of Word and Excel software
-Knowledge of ITMR4 system, Single Window Initiative, CFIA, AIRS Tools, Incoterms, B3, RMD, E-manifest, LPCO, trade agreements to obtain free tariff under PreferenceCriterions is an asset
Certification
- Having the Certified Customs Specialists (CCS) designation with the Canadian Society of Customs Brokers (CSCB is an important asset.
- Having the CIFFA Certificate in International Freight Forwarding by CIFFA is an asset
Education:
-Completion of post-secondary education in the field of logistics, customs and/or freight forwarding
Work Experience: Minimum 2 years of related work experience in which at least 1 year in a Canadian customs brokerage.
Terms of Employment: Permanent Full-time

Wage: $24.00/hour
